TRANUS English‎ > ‎

Download/install

The new version TRANUS3 with QTRANUS is very simple to install. All you need is a recent version of QGIS and then use the menu Plugins. In the list of available plugins qtranus should appear (make sure you include experimental plugins in the list). Install this plugin and you get everything you need. There is no need to download or install anything else.

This page provides the necessary links to download and/or install the previous version of TRANUS software for compatibility, or to download additional documents such as manuals, databases, tutorials, papers, and so on. The content may vary frequently. It is a good idea to register in the Tranus list. You get benefits (information, contacts, etc.) at no cost. At the end of this page you will find simple instructions on how to register.

The use of the new TRANUS3 with QTRANUS is highly recommended. The older version may still be useful for compatibility with previous applications. Unfortunatelly we are no longer able to support this older version.

Istall the software and download the documentation

As mentioned, there is no need to download anything to use TRANUS3 with QTRANUS. Simply install the corresponding plugin from QGIS. In this section the visitor may still download the previous TRANUS software and both older and current documentation, and use it freely for any purpose. This is not a demo version or an obsolete version, and does not expire. It is a complete and up-to-date version of the programs. This version will be replaced by new ones on a regular basis, as new versions become available. The terms under which the software may be installed and used are very simple:

  • Anyone may freely install the TRANUS software free of charge, may install it in any number of computers and may use it for an unlimited period of time.
  • When the software is used for professional or academic purposes, it is expected that the authors of the application make proper reference in their reports that they have used TRANUS.
  • You may add your own developments to this software and distribute it using the TRANUS software as part of your product, provided you do so under a license identical to this one.
  • The copyright of TRANUS belongs to Modelistica.
  • Modelistica does not assume any responsibility for the results obtained from the use of the TRANUS system, which are the sole responsibility of the model user.
  • Modelistica does not assume any commitment to support the software or the applications, although it will do the best it can to reply to questions via Internet. Support services may be contracted with Modelistica or any other firm that may offer them in order to guarantee prompt and satisfactory replies.
  • The source code is available from GitHub.
For further details of the license conditions visit the site Creative Commons http://creativecommons.org/. If you accept these conditions you may proceed to download and/or install the TRANUS software. The older version of the software had two components: the TRANUS GUI or graphical interface called TUS, and the TRANUS models and other programs. To install these two click on the corresponding links further below. You may choose to install them directly from the Internet, or download them to your PC and install it later. Installation itself is very simple: just follow the on-screen instructions that are typical of all Windows installation procedures. Two programs must be installed: tus....exe and tranus....exe. Complete names change according to version. The installation procedure is typical for Windows programs. In the case of the new version TRANUS3 with QTRANUS, look for it in the list of plugins of QGIS, making sure the list contains 'experimental' plugins. Further below you can download a QTRANUS User Manual where more details about the installation and usage are given.

Registration and support

There are two interchange and discussion groups about the TRANUS system:

It is a good idea to register at least in the first open group. Short messages are sent to this group whenever a new version of the software or the documentation comes out. Questions and answers are shared. The space provides a standard procedure if you want to leave the group at any time. In this space you may participate in English, Spanish, French or Portuguese.
